As fall has now arrived the warmth of a hot sweet potato pairs perfectly with a fall salad. Some recipes like potatoes and salads can actually fall into multiple seasons depending on their toppings. With the abundance of buena mulata hot peppers in our garden this year I decided to make one of our favorite new condiments that we first discovered a year ago in NYC while going to see one of our favorite spiritual junkies Gabby Bernstein. Gabby was launching her new book Super Attractor at The Riverside Church in Manhattan. If you haven't read this book Todd and I highly recommend it. It's one of my absolute favorite books written by her. The first book I read of hers was The Universe Has Your Back.
Todd and I love trying new flavor food and drink combinations at new restaurants when we travel. We booked a table for two at this great little restaurant, Bar 314 that was located only a few blocks from the venue location for Gabby. Give us a small intimate restaurant with fresh homemade ingredients over a chain restaurant any day. This place was small but so inviting with large doors that completely opened the restaurant to the sidewalk cafe tables. Surprisingly we were the only ones there as the restaurant had just opened at 5 pm. After surfing over the menu and asking the bartender for his suggestions it was obvious that their homemade pizzas were going to be a must for us. One pizza in particular caught our eye with the topping "hot honey". Stop the presses, what is this wonderful sounding combination that we have never heard of let alone never tried. The pizza was amazing and the hot honey completely brought all of the flavors together.
The entire evening was amazing, between the food and getting to see Gabby Bernstein in person. After following her on social media, watching her on Oprah, reading many of her books it was such great energy in the church that night being surrounded by other Super Attractors. I think I was in my glory the entire time and so appreciative that Todd (one of the only dozen men there that night out of a few thousand) was supportive of this adventure. He did later go on to read Super Attractor as well after reading The Universe Has Your Back. This was the second spiritual author event that I have ever attended. The first was years back in Las vegas when I saw the amazing Wayne Dyer and culinary author Kriss Karr. Both of these individuals have had huge impacts on my life. If you haven't ever read Wayne Dyers "Change Your Thoughts, Change Your Life" I recommend going directly to the local bookstore right now and getting yourself a copy. My first book that I read from him was "The Shift" which changed my perspective on many things in our everyday lives that I immediately was pulled to watch the movie as well.
